Criterion Cover for Shintaro Katsu’s “Zatoichi in Desperation”
Zatoichi has a strong noble legacy in the heart of japanese cinema. I have been a loyal fan of the series for the better part of a decade. Not only has it changed the way I treat blind people; you never know if they are hiding a cane sword. But I feel the character of Zatoichi is one of the greatest to grace cinema ever.
Zatoichi in Desperation was directed by the man himself Shintaro Katsu, this is the 24th entry into the series and one of the last before the TV Show got started.
I’d love to see the entire series get the criterion make over into a gigantic Blu-ray set with some decent extras, interviews and commentary tracks by some true Zatoichi fans.
That won’t happen any time soon, But for now here’s a little cover design, I am hoping to work on some more covers down the line.

Criterion Cover for William Friedkin’s 1977 “Sorcerer”
William Friedkin one of the seminal directors of the 70’s with such hits as The French Connection and The Exorcist. Set out in the heart of the Dominican Republic to shoot what would prove to be his most ambitious project to date. The film would be an epic remake of the french classic “The Wages of Fear” but would be renamed Sorcerer instead. The picture stands as a testament of a true Hollywood visionary. Not too many directors at the time would have taken such a challenge. Friedkin and his crew worked tirelessly under savage conditions on Sorcerer. The film tells the Tale of a group of outcasts hired to work in an oil drilling company in South America, after a horrific disaster at their camp site; They set out to drive two ancient trucks filled with unstable and dangerous dynamite into miles of treacherous jungle, with their fates hanging in the balance.
Friedkin has stated that the film is his personal favorite.
I know that it’s a film that i have marveled at for quite sometime, and that I have attempted to work on several designs for the better part of a year.
So i hope that with this Criterion cover the powers that be will find a way to get the film out in all it’s glory to the masses of fans who have be craving for it.

Criterion Cover for Quentin Tarantino’s “Jackie Brown”
QT’s Homage to the famed Exploitation pictures of the 70’s is not what it seems. It’s filled with sharp smart dialogue, great Los Angeles areas such as Torrance, Hawthorne and the famed Del Amo Shopping Mall. Some unlikable people that we kinda care about, a performance by Robert Deniro that is wild and brutal not to mention a soundtrack to die for. But don’t take my word for it.
Here’s what the legendary Film Critic Roger Ebert had to say about Tarantino’s follow up to Pulp Ficition
” This is the movie that proves Tarantino is the real thing, and not just a two - film wonder boy.”

Happy 30th Birthday Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner”
Today marks the 30th anniversary of one of the greatest sci - fi films ever to be released. As we all know it’s a miracle that the picture was ever made. So as a tribute to it’s big birthday i am posting an unreleased cover concept design that was thrown into my reject folder, plenty of those in there !! to be release one day for all to see.
Shot on the burbank lot of Warner Bros. Sir Scott’s first feature made in the U.S. was a tough one for him to complete. Endless night shoots, unhappy actors and film crew, but the final product is a work of art, a testament to hard work and vision.
So tonight i encourage you all to make some popcorn and pop the film into your dvd players and witness the ultimate Ridley Scott masterpiece in it’s many versions, my personal favorite is the original director’s cut. You can also watch the great making of documentary “Dangerous Days”
and let us all thank Ridley Scott the Guv’nor for his film
